There are various types of flanges and some of them are given below:
Stainless steel blind flanges is a solid flange. The purpose of the flange is to block off the pipe section or a nozzle on a vessel that is not used. It has mounting holes around the perimeter and the gasket sealing rings are machined into the mating surface. Blind flange is placed between the two open flanges, which helps to stops the flow through a pipe.
stainless steel slip on flanges are manufactured with an inside diameter that is slightly bigger than the pipe outside diameter. It attachments are connected to the pipe through fillet weld at the top and bottom of the flange. It is typically provided with a raised or flat face.
SS weld neck flange has two type of a flange design. The regular type is used with pipes and long type is unsuitable for pipes and it is used in process plant. It contains of a circular fitting with a peeking rim around the circumference. Weld neck flange are suitable for use in hostile environments that have extremes of temperature, pressure or other sources of stress.
Stainless steel socket weld flanges is typically used on smaller sizes of high pressure pipes. It is attached by inserting the pipe into the socket end and by applying fillet weld around the top. This allows a smooth bore and better flow of the fluid or gas inside of the pipe.
Stainless steel forged flanges are used as a connection component for pipes, valves, pumps and other equipment to form a pipework system. To make the connectionflanges are usually welded onto pipes or screwed onto a threaded pipe end and then joined with bolts.
